36th Free Cataract Surgery Eye Camp Held at Nattarampalli
The 36th Free Cataract Surgery Eye Camp was held on 20th September 2026 at Nattarampalli, providing free eye screening and cataract surgery support to rural communities with the medical assistance of Aravind Eye Hospital, Chennai.
The 36th Free Cataract Surgery Eye Camp was successfully conducted on 20th September 2026 as part of the ongoing eye-care service activities of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Nattarampalli. The camp was organized with the medical support of Aravind Eye Hospital, Chennai, with the aim of providing accessible and quality eye care to people from economically weaker sections of rural communities.
260 Patients Received Free Eye Screening
A total of 260 patients from nearby villages attended the camp and underwent comprehensive eye examinations by experienced ophthalmologists.
Following the screening:
- 88 patients were diagnosed with cataract and selected for free cataract surgery in Chennai.
- 38 patients were provided with free spectacles to correct refractive errors.
- Beneficiaries were provided with free lunch and safe transportation for their journey to Chennai for surgery.
The arrangements were made to ensure that patients received not only medical assistance but also the necessary care and support throughout the treatment process.
Free Cataract Surgery for Rural Communities
Cataract is one of the major causes of avoidable vision loss. For people living in rural areas, access to timely eye examinations and cataract treatment can be challenging due to financial and transportation difficulties.
